And the Ticking Time Bomb is...STILL Ticking

Well with my due date only days away, I can honestly say that I'm tired of being pregnant.

Don't get me wrong - pregnancy is amazing.  It's nothing less than a miracle to take part in the creation of life in such an intimate way - growing a tiny baby inside your body, nourishing and protecting that precious little one until she's ready to be born!  My favorite part is feeling those gentle baby kicks and hiccups reminding you that your sweet little someone is still there.

But pregnancy comes with its difficulties too.  Hormonal mood swings, digestive issues, sleepless nights (exhaustion), constant backache, heartburn, and the new soreness in my ribs whenever I inhale are just a few of the emotional and physical difficulties I've been dealing with.  And I'm so ready for it to be over.

Not to mention, I'm also VERY ready to meet my precious Lacey!  I can't wait to hold her in my arms and kiss her little cheeks!

So I feel like a ticking time bomb...whenever I call someone, I can hear it in their voice that they're wondering if I'm in labor.  "Sooo, how are you DOING?  Anything going ON?"  And my dear husband is constantly asking if I'm okay every time I get out of bed in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.  No Blake, no contractions, no mucus plug, I just had to pee (again).

NESTING UPDATE:
  • My changing station is finally set up.  Blake hung my shelves (the ones I painted myself), and I set up my diapers, wipes, medical and baby-grooming supplies, plus Lacey's clothes on my shelves so I have easy access to everything.  Honestly it's working out so well I'm wondering why I didn't do this setup a year ago!
  • I got the baby swing back from my friend Rhiannon.  I had lent it to her when she adopted her baby girl Alana.  The only thing I'm worried about is keeping Isabelle from getting to Lacey while she's in there.  I'm trying to teach her not to touch the swing at all, but it's not working out too well.  I guess I'm just going to have to be super careful and grow an extra pair of eyes in the back of my head.
  • I'm borrowing a car seat from my friend Jamie until Blake and I order Isabelle's "big girl" convertible seat in a few weeks.  Today I'm going to wash the cover and clean it off really good, and it should be ready to go!
  • Mrs. Michelle helped me convert my playpen back into a co-sleeper.  It's set up in my bedroom right now, and I can't help but look at it every time I'm in my room and wonder at the fact that soon my baby girl will be sleeping there.

I feel like my home is finally ready to welcome a new little one, and I'm so ready!
DOCTOR'S UPDATE:
  • At my last checkup (which was Monday), I was 1.5 cm dilated and about halfway effaced.  That doesn't necessarily mean I'm close to going into labor, but it does mean that when I do go into labor, I have 8.5 cm to go (instead of 10)!  YAY for progress!
  • OH - I don't think I wrote about my last ultrasound!  I had an ultrasound last Wednesday (my doctor wanted to see how big Lacey was), and everything looked great!  They estimated that Lacey was 5-something lbs (Isabelle was only 6 lbs 1 oz) - he said that I just make tiny babies, which is fine by me!
  • My doctor did guess that I would go into labor sometime this week, and since today's Friday, I'm due Monday, and the week's almost over, we'll have to see!
I'll try to keep everyone updated when I go into labor - Blake's probably going to be posting updates on facebook (I'll be busy).  Keep us in your prayers please!
