"Spring" Cleaning in the Steiner Household

So as I've been exhausted all day while nursing and caring for a 6 month old AND growing baby #2, the house has been in pretty bad shape.  My husband has been wonderfully patient with me, not complaining as long as I do his laundry, fix his meals, and keep the kitchen reasonably clean.

Over the past year and a half, we've accumulated a lot of clutter.  We didn't realize how much CRAP we had until Blake cleaned out his truck and his office (which we had been using as a storage room/pantry).  It's made us realize that we have to do something.  I mean, we have a good-sized 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house, and we're only able to use part of it because it's filled with junk we don't even use!  And, yes, I plead guilty for contributing to the problem because whenever my parents get rid of their crap, I take it into our house.  *sigh.*

So Blake and I talked about it, and we've decided to sell the stuff we can, and throw away the stuff we can't.  I'm going to put my little-girl furniture on Craigslist - including the queen bed, night stand, dresser, vanity, and two chairs.  I think I'm going to sell the vanity my mom recently gave us as well.  And hopefully I'll be able to use the money to buy the things we need for the nursery - like a convertible crib and a sleeper chair for when we have occasional guests.  (If you're wondering where Isabelle sleeps now, she usually starts out in her Co-Sleeper, but most of the time she ends up in the bed with us.)  Anyway, my POINT is that with another baby on the way, I NEED a functional nursery!  I want to be able to put the changing table in there, as well as the bookshelf I need to refinish, and maybe even a rocking chair.  I want to make it a cozy place where we can spend time together reading books, playing with toys, and learning to crawl (I guess I should add "area rug" to the list, lol).

I also want to improve the functionality our kitchen.  While it isn't cluttered with furniture we don't use (thank God), it just isn't a functional space for me.  And I don't like to spend time in there cooking because of it.  I have groceries all over my counter because we have no pantry (and Blake won't let me use his office desk as my pantry anymore).  He did, however, promise to buy me a cabinet I can use as a pantry, and I'm very much looking forward to that.  I just need to get rid of the clutter so I have more counter space.

Anyway, that's what I'm working on these days - de-cluttering my house, and my life.  And as my second trimester energy approaches, I'm setting a goal for myself to do some serious cleaning and organizing.  It won't be easy, especially with a daughter who demands so much energy and attention, but I'm going to do as much as I can when I can.  Which means I'd better get off this COMPUTER and do some WORK, lol!
