My Poor, Sick Baby

Well, I haven't really blogged in a few days because I've been taking care of Isabelle, who has had a high, unexplained fever for the past few days.  And as I've really been trying to focus on taking care of her and myself, I've let my blogging, not to mention my housework, slide for a few days.

Isabelle's fever started Saturday at my friend Lauren's Diaper Shower (this is something I'd never heard of before - apparently it's a shower for the mother-to-be who already has kids and all the clothes/baby gear she needs, but could use essential stuff like diapers, wipes, etc.).  Isabelle was very fussy, and though I hadn't taken her temperature, she felt warm.  Later that day, she seemed fine.  Sunday, she was extremely lethargic, didn't have an appetite, and just wasn't herself.  We took her temperature, and she had a high fever so my mother-in-law and I brought her into the after-hours clinic, where we waited about 3 hours to be seen.  Isabelle's doctor said everything looked fine when she examined her and her blood work showed no sign of infection.  She told us to give her children's Tylenol and Pedialyte, and come back Tuesday if she still had fever.

Monday she still had a low fever, but was back to her happy, playful, mischievous little self.  And today she has no fever and seems completely back to normal.  I'm sure it wasn't some terrible sickness she had, but it's always scary when you're a new mom and your baby has unexplained high fever.  I'm so thankful she's better, and thanks everyone who prayed for her while she was sick!
