Yesterday I had an appointment with my obstetrician, Dr. Hardey. I'm 11 weeks along, and it was just a "belly check" appointment, which means you go in and they check your weight, protein levels, blood pressure, and the baby's heartbeat. It gets pretty routine towards the end of pregnancy, but the first one is always very special because you get to hear your baby's precious heartbeat for the first time! Dr. Hardey said it was a great little heartbeat, and it was so amazing to hear it! Baby Bean's heart has actually been beating since week 5 of my pregnancy, and we got to see it on the ultrasound we did at 6 weeks. But this is the first time we've actually heard it on the Doppler.
After Isabelle was born, I remember laying my head on her chest and listening to her little heartbeat - the same one I'd been hearing at my monthly checkups throughout my pregnancy. I can't wait until November when I'll have another little miracle to hold in my arms!
I read weekly updates of Baby Bean's progress on babycenter.com, and the little life growing inside me constantly amazes me. He/she is almost fully formed with little working organs and everything! I don't understand how anyone can deny that this is a tiny, precious, human life! Having several friends with fertility problems reminds me to never take anything for granted. We are truly blessed, and I thank God every day for my wonderful husband, sweet little Isabelle, and precious Baby Bean!
